Atlanta-based singer Carmen Bradford has deep jazz roots, with parents and grandparents in the business, but she has carved out a powerful path of her own. First discovered and hired by William “Count” Basie, she was the featured vocalist with the Count Basie Band for nine years, performing on two of their Grammy award-winning recordings in the 1980s. Though she performs everything from intimate duos to grand symphonic productions to movie soundtracks, she returns to the Basie Band whenever they call. Their recent Grammy-nominated recording, All About That Basie, includes Bradford’s stellar performance of “Honey Suckle Rose,” arranged for her hero (and friend) Ella Fitzgerald. The Carmen Bradford Group — including our own Derrick Gardner — will raise your spirits and warm your heart!
